Singer/songwriter Ashlee K was born and raised in the salt lake valley of Utah near the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. Growing up in their peace and beauty had a profound effect on Ashlee, and their influence is ever present her songwriting. At the early age of four, Ashlee began learning music with violin lessons. Over the next twelve years she studied the Suzuki method with renowned music instructors such as Jack Ashton of the Utah Symphony Orchestra. While growing up Ashlee played countless concerts and galas with accomplished professionals, including the Utah Symphony, Igor and Vesna Grupman, and Joseph Silverstein.
After graduating from the Suzuki method Ashlee received a music scholarship to Utah Valley State College where she continued her music studies for another year. At this time in her life, Ashlee expanded her musical talents to the guitar and began to focus more on singing and songwriting. Ashlee is a lyricist by nature. Her words are refreshingly honest and to the core. She quickly developed a musical style of beautiful melodies intertwined with daunting key changes. This music, combined with her writing and natural gift of pitch, evolved into a unique genre she termed "Witchfolk."
Ashlee began playing shows at local music venues and sang for a crowd of thousands at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. She has performed at several renowned music festivals, including Uncle Uncanny's Music Festival in the Uinta Mountains, and the Desert Rocks Music Festival in Moab, Utah.
In June 2006, Ashlee K released her first full-length record entitled, "Peace is in the Trees." The preceding April, she began touring independently through the Western United States along with musical performer, Daniel Ryan and the Players. Together they have decided to donate ten percent of their record sales to the United Leukodystrophy Foundation to help find a cure for the disease that recently took her brother's life. Ashlee K brings a since of reality, life and truth to her music that audiences find refreshing. She is a determined, hungry young artist who is excited to bring her music to you.
